How many gigabytes RAM can be used with the new Intel i7 processor on Windows 7 ? Are there any limit?

I wonder if Windows 7 is 64 bit, and if there are any limit as to how much RAM it can use!

u can put as much as 128GB RAM. but it will not be neccessary because windows will only recognize as much as 32GB

Its the motherboard that determines how much RAM your system supports not the processor.

Also a 32 bit OS will only show a bit less than 4 GB. A 64 bit OS, in theory, can run up to 192 GB but as the largest modules to date are 4 GB, you would need 48 slots so for now this is just talk.

The amount of ram that can be used depends on the motherboard, some motherboards can support up to 12, 24 or 32 GB of ram. But I think the core i7 Processors and Windows 7 can support more than 32 GB of ram.

64-bit can go up to 192 GB of RAM for Ultimate and Professional. Home Premium goes up to 16 GB.



On a practical level, you're most likely to be limited by your current motherboard and its capabilities. Most out there right now can't go up anywhere near 192 GB of RAM themselves.

that's loopy!!! If my AMD A8-4500M can run extreme-intensity video games, then this might easily. regardless of if, try replace the Intel middle i7 to an AMD Athlon 2 professional or something (its solo speedy and that i've got a protracted-status feud with Intel with reference to "extreme high quality" processors.

I think Windows 7 64-bit has a limit of 12 GB. Be sure to check what your motherboard can handle as well.



I was wrong. It ranges from 2GB for the starter version, to 192GB for the Pro, Ultimate and Enterprise versions.

First off you need to know how much the OS can support in a 32 bit verison of windows can support up to 4 GB so if you go to 64 bit you need 4 GB times it self to equal 16 GB so the limit is 16 GB.

that depends on which version you have

if you have 32 bit then you can use 2.9 gigs

if you have 64 bit then you can use up to 7 gigs (i think)

but im sure about the 32 bit i have 3 gigs installed but it's only showing 2.9 in the ratings box

Actual limit is 192Gb, but no motherboard currently on the market will support that.
