Its nearly my birthday, going to treat myself and get a new computer! £600 MAX, preferably a package deal, monitor atleast included

I'm just a student, so I don't want to buy a computer that I like the look of and find out a few months down the line there was a better going one e.g. more memory, going for much cheaper.

Here's some info on what I do on a PC: I'm a Media student, I use Final-cut, Adobe and all that, store HD/ high quality onto PC, also I take a lot of photos, I surf the internet, I don't really game online (not my thing) and I watch television and films on the net regularly (don't worry all legal by the way), and lastly, use astrology software and microsoft frequently!

This is something I would really appreciate help in. And if I could kudo/ rate you or whatever for your trouble then so be it! ;p

Thanks guys, CONNIe

Ooh, if you're looking for a graphics design PC or a Media PC you MIGHT have to spend a little more than 600 pounds. Maybe.

Anyways, look for a computer that has a fast processor: EG Intel i7's or any quad core above 2.6Ghz (You will NEED quad core for video editing)

Also, a good graphics card is needed to help process videos and photos faster. I suggest getting at least a computer with a GTX260 or an ATI 4770. Those will be perfect. Anything lower and your HD vids will be choppy while editing.

Get LOTS OF RAM. At LEAST 4GB. Recommended, maybe 6. Media editing requires tons of memory for smooth operation.

Last but not least, get at least a 1TB hard drive. You'll need the space, especially for editing HD video.

The rest is up to you. I'm pretty sure itll even out to around 500-700 pounds.

*EDIT*

Oh, and if you are designing graphically and visually, I'd recommend an IPS monitor. They're expensive, so maybe you should save up for a better monitor later. But the difference between and IPS monitor and a normal monitor is critical in media editing. You'll get the most accurate color gamuts, the most optimal contrast, and not to mention the sharpness. It's just a cut above the rest.

Well, Final Cut is mac only. So a new Mac is not in your price range. Unless you want a used one. As far as desktops go, I don't know if Newegg ships to the UK, but that's where I'd start. They have great deals on computers.
