Could very well be the motherboard that has failed.

"Continued"

Could still be any number of things from the motherboard to the power supply since it took out the surge protector. Most of time from what I have seen that if there is a surge it will flash past the fuse that's in the power supply and still zap the motherboard. I have also seen where a surge went through the LAN adaptor also, but that was during a lightning storm.

If you have another PC and if you feel adventurous you could pull out the PSU and hook it up to another PC or you can jump it to see if it turns on.

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=914069&mpage=1 <---- look at post #7 .. it shows a 20 pins and 24 pin connector from the PSU to the Motherboard.. now get a small piece of metal you can use a paperclip, small peice of wire whatever you have ... and look for the GREEN lead (there is only one) and that is the PS_ON lead. Then insert the peice of metal of choice in the GREEN lead and in the Black lead (doesnt matter which side of the green lead), if the fan on the PSU comes on you know your PSU is good and that its the motherboard. Then if the PSU doesnt come on then you know its the PSU that @ fault.

If you have it back together try unplugging it for 5 minutes and then turn it on and start it. Might work, in future just do the unplug thing

First please learn how to spell, second you have probably fried the logic board on the motherboard, it's not that expensive to replace and will not affect saved data. Hope this helps

you have most likely burned something inside your PC.
