Question:
Would a Black edition CPU work in a motherboard that supports the non-black edition cpu?

I want to get an AMD Phenom II x2 555 3.2 ghz: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103846

But it says it is a black edition, and I am concerned that it won't work with my motherboard, which is an ASUS M2n68-AM SE2. According to the support site, it will work with an AMD Phenom II X2 555, but will it work with the black edition cpu? Is there really any difference? Here is the support site to make it easier: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpu_support_right.aspx?type=1&model_name=M2N68-AM%2520SE2&SLanguage=en-us

Thanks a bundle!

Yes it will work. Its the same processor as the none black edition except the black edition one you can change the CPUs clock multiplier if you wish to overclock it. (Usually its locked) however in a nut-shell its the same CPU and will work in that motherboard :)

Hope this helps

wait!!

check your specs carefully. looks to me like the board supports AM2+/AM2 socket cpus and the cpu you have in mind is an AM3 socket device. that won't work at all.
