Wanting to know if there is a way of downloading a MAC Operating System for my windows PC, you know in the sense that i can download windows 7 to replace windows Vista etc... ? I can do with partitioning my HDD thats no problem, (i would like to keep windows) the only real reason im wanting to do this is so i can make an iPhone app. Need a MAC OS to be able to use certain software only for apple mac computers.

Could I buy the OS from a retail store and put it on my PC. Thanks

The only legal way of developing iPhone software is on an Apple computer.

It is possible to build a modified PC that will run Mac OS, however as well as risking prosecution, it's also a hassle and not guaranteed to work long term.

It is possible to virtualise the Apple server software, but I'm not so certain you can do the same for the client software.

The normal "cheap" way of developing iPhone software is to buy a secondhand Intel Mac Mini. You don't need an awful lot of processing power to develop software.

(You cannot use the Apple developer tools on a Linux platform. Apple's operating system is based on FreeBSD, but you need the stuff that Apple built on top of it in order to use the development tools.)

You can make a virtual computer at www.virtualbox.org. This is like having a computer in a computer, its very easy to do, but you would need to buy the product key for MAC OS if that's what your wanting to install.

Hope this helps.

Not without some modding, you will be breaking Apple's T&C anyway.

Why would you want to install an inferior OS on a computer?

Install a Linux distro instead.

You ever heard of Ubuntu Linux? just download and install Ubuntu and download and install a theme called macbuntu and it will look just like Mac OSX and will be safer than trying to run hackintosh or bootcamp
