Question:
CD-rom game won't load up?

I have all the original Sims 2 games and the first two stuff pack won't even load up??? The other 6 stuffpacks do work and 5 are CD-roms too.

I have bought a brandnew computer who work perfectly, but this is a flaw. The discs are scratchless and I just don't know what to do.. They're just regular CD-roms and they don't even show up! The laser doesn't read the disc for some reason..

Help me please! Thanks in advance.

If the issue off the bat is some disks are read by the new PC and some aren't, it is possible the different optical drive just isn't reading the disk the way it was burned from another drive,or maybe it's finicky with the brand name.

I had some Sony disks burned on a Memorex burner and when I put them in my second Memorex burner of same model with different revision version, I had to pop the Sony's in more than a few times to get the burner to read them, sometimes unsuccessfully. I even tried to update firmware on the drive and it didn't work. Only did it with the Sony single layer dvds.

You can try seeing if there is a firmware update for the drive, it may help.

You are trying to run an ancient, 32 bit game on a 64bit system, odds are it wont ever run, the easiest way around this is to setup a virtual machine using suns free vmware in that install xp or 32 bit windows and install and play your game in there.

Sims was designed on a xp machine 32 bit operating system so it wont work on yours as it is.

There is a big difference in games that ran in Windows 98 or XP...before... Windows 7 if your early Sims were DOS based they may not run or be recognized in any OS after XP (like vista or Win 7) You might want to try them in an older machine (with XP) to see if they work there.

Go into the "my computer" folder, RIGHT click the cd-rom and click "run" and if tht doesn't work do the same but instead of clicking "run" click "run as administrator"
