Question:
How should I fix poor sound quality on my computer?

I recently installed the windows 8 release preview. All sound that is played is terribly distorted and crackly. I did not have this problem when using the consumer preview or windows 7.

I think the issue is partly to do with my graphics card driver for my Nvidia GeFoce GT 520 because when the system was using generic drivers, it worked just fine. When I was trying to fix this issue I uninstalled the drivers and the sound worked perfectly.

The sound card I am currently using is from Realtek High Definition Audio. ( I have already set it to " 16 bits, 44100Hz -CD quality" and disabled the effects which helped a bit but did not solve my problem)

Should I wait and see if the problem fixes itself as windows 8 is still in its early days? Or is there anything I can do to fix the problem? Any advice is much appreciated.

first off, you are using a release candidate, that in and of itself is going to be buggy.

it is not the final product and the actual drivers for all your hardware have not been tested and verified to work with it.

as such problems will arise.

i've tested the win 8 and had to roll back to vista(7 stunk about as bad, and i lost too much equipment and software under it) due to issues like this.

i'd try various drivers for both the video and audio cards, and see which ones seem to be the most stable. (get them from the company websites only, as any third party sites may not be real drivers, and can potentially contain viruses.)

for instance my 8400 card under win 8 could not use the latest driver, and still run my cad programs(totally gaked on me), but went back to iterations previous, and had total stability. lost some performance in other areas, and finally got mad and went back to vista.

i'd report the issue to microsoft, the audio/mobo manufacturer, and nvidia, just so they know issues exist with this particular hardware setup.

you might have to go back to 7 to get the most stable performance.

I suggest you to wait few days , i hope the problem fix itself. If it is not fix then go to Control Panel, Sound, open the default sound device, click on the Advanced Tab and make sure it's set to 24 bit sound.

this may well be an issue with the youtube web site and not your laptop audio gadget. Ive visited youtube earlier and that i've got had to tutor my audio gadget up just to take heed to the sound coming from the video. So it might desire to be an issue with how the video advance into recorded. desire this facilitates. best of success :)

Actually Microsoft never launched proper version of win 8,so for your kind information you can go back to win 7 ,i think it's better for you.

Does seem like it could be a driver problem.

You might try going to drivers.com seeing whether they have a suitable one, all you are required to do is establish an account and sign in.

you should probably start by gettin a new motherboard cuz your sound hard hardware may be outdated and of course get the windows 8.1 because thats the new one
