I dont have much money, and too young for a job, my parents decided to treat me to a late birthday present (we didnt have the money for a present for 2 years in a row) they said theyll get me a gaming pc for £50, there is no way we can afford anything higher, i have a ps3, but I want to be a pc gamer, so I can mod games, download mods/textures and generally go past the limits of a ps3 or xbox that sony/microsoft restrict you on, jailbreaking is a no-no.

id sell my ps3 for one, but its a fat model and the warranty expired, so we wont get much for it, and even if i did, i dont know where to buy a gaming pc, help please.

i have been good to my parents, studied really hard and done chores to earn this.

my current laptop has integrated graphics card, intel atom processor and cant run pac-man without crashups, its useless, and was free from my school, ive used it for work but gaming wont work on it.

even 2nd hand gaming machines are more than £50, you could look here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC7700-Gaming-Core-2-Duo-Desktop-Computer-1GB-80GB-DVD-Cheap-PC-XP-Office-Suite-/250908836359?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item3a6b550207

needs a VGA card to make it usable for games, otherwise it is no better than your netbook.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GAMING-HP-XW6200-Dual-Xeon-7-2GHz-Tower-PC-Desktop-2GB-72GB-Workstation-/300626015073?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item45feb4f361

is a powerful machine for very little money, comes with a 256Mb PCiE graphics card, not great but will do to start with. Twin Xeon processors will make up a lot in processing power, and it comes with 2gb of RAM which is acceptable, and you can always add more later.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-XW6200-Dual-Xeon-3-6Ghz-64-Bit-Desktop-PC-8GB-RAM-Gaming-Tower-Computer-DVDRW-/120849065311?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item1c232a655f

this is a far better option, but at a price, again twin Xeon processors, 8Gb of RAM, decent size HD but

ideally needs a better VGA though the Quadro is good at many things it is under powered for the more modern games.

To echo what a few others have noted you certainly are not going to find any gaming computer worth a toss at that price level unless you happen upon someone selling a very old used one. Of course when it comes to used electronics you are really rolling the dice in terms of potential problems. I would recommend saving up some more money by finding some other odd jobs like mowing lawns or something and try to locate a decent refurbished desktop.

By opting for a refurbished unit you can find desktops at a greatly reduced price. Plus if you go directly through the manufacturer you can get towers with the same warranty as a new computer. If you aren't happy with the hardware this can always be upgraded down the road but the main thing is to stay away from any system that is marketed specifically for gaming. Systems like Alienware are frankly overpriced in terms of hardware included. What many don't realize is that they are simply paying primarily for the fancy case and the name rather than real performance.

If I were you I'd possibly look for last seasons refurbished Dell XFR. Generally they have good enough specs to run most interactive gaming. Then possibly look to add more RAM and a better video card later. Regardless you are going to need a bit more money.

You're not going to find a gaming PC for 50 quid, unfortunately. My suggestion, if you want to afford a PC that can actually play games (which will cost you at least 300 quid), is to do some small jobs like babysitting, mowing lawns, washing cars, and other things like that.

As well, see if any of your friends have an older computer that they can lend you, and if it's new enough (like, made in the past 5 years), you could potentially upgrade it to the point that it can run current games.

Not to be a douche, but we're talkin like 70's computer with that money... haha but seriously, ask your parents for a job around the house, and get a job mowing lawns or something, and I'd only sell your PS3 if you know for a fact you'll stick with trying to get one of these things...:) I' doing the same thing, and I'm 14, dont worry.

Sorry kid but NO gaming PC is £50, try £300+ and you're abit closer!

But, I guess you could try www.gumtree.com and see what people have on there. You could also put your ps3 up for sale with the games, as long as its in good condition you should get a decent amount.

And you are not too young for a job, wash cars, take up a paper route, put a ad in paper for odd jobs.
