if you use windows partitioning tool it will destroy data and you'll need to format the drive afterwards you'll loose everything there are third party tools you can use that will resize or create a new partition without destroying data one of these is partition magic check the website out http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/sat4/ec_Main.Entry17c?SID=27685&SP=10023&CID=189671&PID=627117&PN=1&V1=627117&CUR=826&DSP=&PGRP=0&ABCODE=&CACHE_ID=0

but even this isn't without risk you still could loose everything if something goes wrong such as a power failure, you should back everything up before you start

when you reinstall windows you will see two portions, leave the small one because that one deploys windows, they are the files that have been loaded from the disc, the other one is your current OS thats installed, you can delete it and use that portion to install your new OS.

Go to youtube and enter..'create a partition'..into the search and watch

Play safe and back up all your data. It's not very complicated to do it but I don't recomend it if you don't know what you are doing. I would buy a second hard drive instead.

repartitioning your hard drive using Windows setup will destroy data stored on it and you will have to reformat the hard drive afterwards. But there are programs that will prevent this.
