Whenever i start my computer it freezes at the BIOS screen saying "chip fan fail or speed to low" until hit F1 to continue or DEL to enter setup. it says i can disable warning in setup, but i have been unable to find where. can anyone help me out.
It is not overheating, therefore i believe it JUST an warning error and not a fan problem.

You could browse the support site for your make and model PC. You could get into setup and browse the options systematically.

A good answer here would have to come from someone who knows your BIOS options setup structure well, or from someone who can look it up. Either way, to get a good answer here, you would have to tell us what kind of computer it is.

How old is your computer? When did this start happening?

The chip set fan is neither the CPU fan, a case fan, nor a power supply fan. It is usually on the motherboard, with a heat sink much smaller than the CPU heat sink. If it has a two wire connector, the motherboard won't be able sense the fan speed.

Although you can bypass the warning, it is not advisable. I would replace the fan on the cpu. Although it is still running, it may be at such a low rpm that the warning comes on but the fan runs, though slowly. It's only a matter of time before complete failure, then the CPU may overheat and then you'd be looking at a rather sizeable investment, rather than a 5-20 dollar fan. It's hard to tell what the rpm says.

There are free utilities that monitor fans and cpu temp, you might search for them and check out your cpu.

It's easy to replace, just get the model number or type of motherboard. You might also want to open up the case and take a picture w your cell phone and show it to your local pc store to match up that fan. Couldn't hurt, plus take the cpu info and pc model with you. Or search the inet for the mobo type.

sounds like your CPU fan or your case fans RPMs are too low which could mean its going out. Open your case an look at your fans. if they are not turning fast then you need to replace.
