Question:
My computer has blown up, help! Packard Bell Imedia 1959.?

I have a two year old Packard Bell imedia 1959. It was working fine on Wednesday other than it crashed twice last week when closing down Sims 2. I started it up yesterday and it sounded like it normally does when booting up except it has a click every second or so. I have no display whatsoever. My partner removed the hard drive and the clicking was still there.

There is nothing new hard ware wise on it, in fact the only thing not factory is an additional fan we put on it 6 months ago. The graphics card doesn't have any visible signs of damage.

All virus checks were up to date as of last week, although I suppose I guess I could of picked something up, would it be likely to just kill my computer with no warning?

I guess what I am asking is your opinion as to whether it is likely to be just the hard drive before I spend out any money. Please help, I do not have a lot of money to throw around!!

Could be anything with a fan which is nothing bad. Look for the round battery and pull it. Let it sit unplugged for 5 minutes, replace the battery plug it in and enter CMOS mode. I'm sorry that CMOS configuration can be tricky but you should see a "return to factory settings" if you don't have a raid setup it should go. You might also reset all your ram. It none of that helps look carefully at your mother board for cracks or burned spots or unplugged wires.

It could be the video card, check all connections make sure the card is seated and the fan blowing.

It could be the monitor

I doubt it's the hard drive. Because it would say windows not found (you would have display even without a hard drive)

Most likely it's something simple or something major but it's something.
