Ive heard PC is more of gaming machine but can be used to create media just as well. Only bad thing is that it is more burnable to infection so being on top of internet security is a nuisance.

On the other side you have mac that is more of a work computer and used to create media. But in the way of video games it really is a bad choice for games.

I have a macbook pro right now and i am thinking of either returning it or getting started to make music. But i am really going to miss playing pc games and ms-dos games. How can this be solved?

Damon,

A PC can do anything a mac can do. It's not the system or the OS, it's the software applications that are made for it. Over 90% of PC's run windows. That is why there aren't many MAC games. Who wants to write gaming code for a market that consists of only 5% of all PC's?? Stick with PC.

My first comment is HUH?

The newer Macs can do anything a PC can do including running Windows, UNIX, etc. stuff if you want. A PC on the other hand can NOT run Mac programs.

By MacBook Pro, I assume you mean with the Intel CPU. Earlier models used different designations. Are you running OS 10.5? If so, you can still use your PC games via Bootstrap. (Assuming they aren't so old that you couldn't run them on a newer PC.)

A laptop isn't really as good a choice for gaming as a desk top unit. The video and RAM are more limited and the screen refresh is terribly slow. I run my PB G4 1.5 ghz with some games like Call of Duty 2 that really drag at times, vs running without a hint of slowdown on my 1.8 ghz G5 tower, or 2 ghz G5 iMac. I've played the same game in Windows version on a newer dual core 2 ghz Intel iMac and it was as fast and smooth as the Mac version on my G5s.

The Mac OS is horrible. If you want an alternative to windows use linux. Linux has support to play windows games on it using Wine. Macs have never been viable for anything other then being trendy, and paying more for something of lesser value and lesser customizability in a flashy shell. All apple products are that way. You can get a generic MP3 player with 80 gigs for 50$. An Ipod can run up to 500$. Apple is never worth it.

There is just more software for pcs.

Macs are all well and good for looking at or running adobe software, but really there isn't all that much for them.

Of course there is always the free option of ubuntu, however i have no experience of that system personally.

"How can this be solved?"

It's quite simple, actually. Buy a Windows license and then dual-boot with Boot Camp.
