I have defragmented, done a disk clean, ran anti-virus, ran anti-spy, I even used registry mechanic and it "said" it fixed all of my errors but my pc is still running slow. It is a Dell and I use DSL for internet access, I do have alot of programs starting up when I start my pc but do not know how to change the settings to stop unnecessary programs from starting up. What else can I do to make it run faster, it is very frustrating to work with a slow pc. Please help!!!

To turn off unneeded programs that run in the background: Start > Run > type Msconfig > click OK. in the window that opens click Startup tab. uncheck anything you don't want at startup. click Apply. click Services tab & turn off anything you don't want running, click Apply, click OK, do the required restart. When Windows comes up you'll get a window about configuration utility, checkmark the box click OK.

Get the free Eusing Registry Cleaner

The 1st time I ran it, it removed over 1100 useless entries. I run it weekly & it removes another 50-60 each time

Get the free CCleaner, it does a better job than Disk Cleanup

Dear

Because that most software has automatically function. When you go to the system they would automatically run in the background. So you always use the software is more convenient. But it will also cause unnecessary troubles. There is so much software when you start your PC that the speed will slow down and they can impact of your normal use. We can tell you some simple methods to clear them.

Method 1 You can find start-up under options in settings and check close. It is difficult to close one by one, once automatic operation programs are too many.

Method 2 You can clean automatic operation programs by manual operation. They are in “run” option of the registry and start menu. Find and clean them.

Method 3 If you think the above two methods are not suitable for you. You only clean Start up by professional software. Of course, it is the simplest way. It invisibly saves a lot of energy and time. They can clean temporary files and the registry and your privacy, increases your PC speed.Well adapted to computer users at different competence levels

Using a registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
