The Core i7 clocked at 2.66 Ghz may sound like its running slower, which in actuality it is, versus 3.2 Ghz; but the primary difference is the cores itself. A dual core with a higher clock speed may run faster, but under a heavy workload, like converting or editing video and 3d modeling it will push the processor to its limits and in some cases even overload it. The i7 was designed to handle heavy workloads and the extra cores are what distinguish these amazing processors, along with a totally new architecture that surpasses the previous generation of quad cores. Even an older quad core like the Q9300 will outperform a Core i5 under certain conditions because it was made for a workstation; but if your a gamer and just looking for speed specific, go with the i5.

the i7 is better hers a link u can check all cpu thats been tested by experts
yes the site is mainly for whenur buying a lappy but cpu's and gpu's u can choose to compare with desktop cpu's so see for ur self good luck m8
ps:dont just look at the GHz there is for example a i-5core 2.6GHz and a i7.core just 1.66Ghz but rated higher because it have a turboboost mode that makes it much faster like i wrote check the link out
just a tip lappys rule cans are out :P

ask on overclock.net we are a very helpfull overclocking and computer hardware and software community well help you by reccomending things to
i7 is better 2 extra physical cores plus virtual threads which means 4 real cores and 4 virtual cores on the i7 qhile the dual core only has 2 real cores, also the i7 has turbo boost which means it overclocks on the fly depending on how much processing power you need it would surpass 3.0 Ghz easily

Quad core is always better than dual core. Go for that one :P.

Statistically Quad-Core processors are better then Dual-Core. However, a lot of programs aren't made to act differently on processors with more cores witch means you will not see a difference in performance with those programs. Most programs will work perfectly on a Dual Core processor. It all depends on what you are using the computer for. For example, if you use the computer for high end games you would probably want the Quad-Core. If not you might be better off with the Dual-Core since you are spending less money for almost the same power.
