A few system programs say I have Dual CPU, but what does that mean?

My computer has dual CPU, but I don't know what this means, and how I can use it.

When I go to Device manager it says I have two "Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz." Same with the Direct X Diagnostic, and Task Manager. I read a little about this, and I believe this is different than dual core. Any ideas?

Pentium 4s are single core. Hyper-threaded P4s show up as 2 cpus in the device manager. No such thing as a dual core Pentium 4. Pentium Ds are duals P4s aren't. Could have 2 P4s on a dual cpu server board but that's unlikely. One of my rigs has an 840 EE Pentium D thats dual core with hyperthreading and it shows up as 4 cpus in the device manager.

no your computer does not have 2 cpu's lol, those type of motherboards are very expensive right now, this is just the name of your cpu there are old pentium 2's aswell as your pentium four, im not sure if these are single or dual core but im pretty sure they are dual core, these are up to date at the minute and are what most people are using, you wont need anything more powerful just yet.

The Pentium4 chip will register as 2 cpus when there is only one. That is how it was designed. It has to do with the hyperthreading in the chip allowing it to run as if there were 2 cpus.

let first tell u waht id dual cpu:



there are physically 2 processors inside the single square processor fixed on motherboard. tehy divide work and work to give better performance, nowdays we have 3 processor kind CPU.



how to find how many processor u have.



rigth click ur taskbar and open taskmanager



in that go to performance tab in cpu usage history if u see 2 graphs for processor then its 2core processor,
