Why do people like Mac (Apple) more than Windows (Microsoft)?

Ok I am on the verge of buying a new computer and have a Dell that is Windows based. I would like to buy an Apple laptop rather than any other. I love Apple products and have heard great things about them. They run better, quicker, and have less virus problems. I also have found out that I can run Boot-camp and still run Windows on my Apple as well which would make my wife happy. My wife asked me if Apple was so awesome than why isn't everyone using Apple? Please give me feedback for both.

Simply because they don't know the truth. A Mac is not compatible with the software on the market 95% of the time. People will tell you a Mac can do everything a PC can which is so far from the truth it ain't funny. Most of these people have very little experience in software. They will tell you that you can run windows on a Mac. Yes you can but still what runs will be limited. Apple has been trying to control their customers for 30 years. Why spend 1500 to 2000 bucks on a Mac and spend more to modify it when you can buy a PC and run software on it out of the box for half the price?

EDIT: @ Natalie....Precisely my point! Young people buy them because they have NO experience on computers. They know no better.

If you started on a PC, stick with a PC.

Macs are nice, shiny and aesthetically pleasing. They are also much more expensive, which is why less people own them. They do have their advantages, but to me it is not worth the price.

Upgrades to the basic software end up costing you money, for example if I want my girlfriends Macbook to be able to use websites like HULU that run on Flash 10, I have to buy an upgrade to the operating system. Whereas my PC that is a year older than her Mac runs it just fine.

Out of warranty service is ridiculously expensive as well. You can expect to pay 5-10 times more for a replacement component for a Mac than a desktop. This is because they basically have a monopoly on the component manufacturing, where PC's have many different companies providing the components, so the price stays down.

PCs foster competition, which keeps the quality at a good level and the price much more palatable.

Macs are overpriced and have less programs and can do less things. Also viruses are going to become a problem when more people buy macs.

Windows is cheaper, faster(can get a computer with double the power for cheaper then a mac).

Get Windows, Mac is overpriced. they dont get virus because no bothers to make virus for them, i mean what r u gonna take, music, u can just use the internet for that. PC can do what macs do better and faster for half the price. And u can upgrade a PC to be AMAZING. Mac- why would u bother upgrading it? All-in-all, if u want a reliable, long lasting computer, get a PC, its faster, can run more programs and is cheaper.

I have an iMac (picked up a used one for 100 bucks) and have only once booted into Apple OS once and that was to install Windows 7 and set it so it would only boot into windows...

Personally, I find apple a bit smug and very propitiatory with the inability to upgrade to what you want.

Because Apple products are ridiculously overpriced, and the OS is not compatible with a lot of software used today.

Windows is cheap, and works fine.

The truth is, most people are starting to use apple. Apple has become particularly appealing to the younger generations (college students), but the reason people still use windows is because they are practical and functional for business. I have an apple and I absolutely love it! I have never had any problems, with the standard functions and I have thoroughly enjoyed all the extra features. I strongly recommend buying an apple. Unless you are in a business that requires you to have windows...

I tend to believe it is a matter of understanding the thought process of the Creater. Some process thoughts like Steve Jobs and some Process thoughts like Bill Gates.

I like Windows better. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
