The motherboard for the Gateway GT5026E is the Intel® (Cortez) 945G that supports up to 4 GBs of DDR2 667, DDR2 533, or DDR2 400 MHz DIMMs. For best results I would recommend 2 GBs or more of whichever speed you have installed. The DIMMs are usually labeled, so you will have to open your case and see what you have. Or, buy two 1 GB DDR2 667 DIMMs (fastest supported) and remove what you have.

It also has One ×16 PCI Express, One ×1 PCI Express and Two PCI slots. So PCI-e x16 video cards should work okay for you.

However, some of the high end video cards require that you have a minimum of a 400 watt power supply. So when you check your memory, also check the label on the power supply unit before buying to see if you have enough capacity. If not, then you may have to upgrade the PSU (ATX form factor) as well.

some years back i offered a Gateway 507GR by Circuit city and on no account had a situation with it, it continues to be going solid and has definately outlasted the EMachine which grew to become into my first laptop. My laptops have been Dell Inspiron , Inspiron grew to become into great yet I destroyed it by employing dropping it and IBM thinkpad, the thinkpad continues to be great (runs Linux). If I had it to do as quickly as extra i could probable get a MAC provided that my purely genuine issues have been residing house windows or IE suitable. Macs are nevertheless performimg extra helpful and have much less issues then a workstation. So in answer on your question specific Gateway is a sturdy laptop, it extremely is recommended to evaluate tech help and client help between the two companies and examine product comments in connection with the fashions

your memory is a ddr2 but there are a lot of different ddr2 kinds... you might have to take it out and see which one it is and stick with that same speed... its anywhere from ddr2 533 to like ddr2 1000 or something like that... im not sure what yours is but look at it and check newegg.com for the ram that fits it... go with corsair or read reviews of some other memories to get a good gaming one.

and your video card is pci express so you can check that site for a good pci express card too... i have a 8600 gt overclocked and its amazing.

good luck with your search... email me if you want me to find you a good pair or any other help... i built my own gaming pc so i can def. help

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
