I have Windows Xp, recently I had my computer fixed. It wouldn't boot, so a lot of things were deleted, I turned it back on, and I found most of my data whatever was gone, but it worked fine, alot faster than before, but I discovered the same speakers that worked before no longer work, nor any other speakers I have. Everything is plugged in, I checked the volume levels, but still no sound. I'm not a computer expert by any means but I think that something critical to the functioning of sound on my desktop was deleted when I fixed it. Am I missing a driver or something? How can I diagnose and solve this annoying problem? I've been at it for a while. Thanks.

It looks like sound driver was not reinstalled. RUN dxdiag then select Sound tab. If device and driver details are there, you could usually test for sound. If details are missing, you have to install the sound driver software. Driver is usually in the drivers/utilities CD that came w/ new PC. If CD is gone, download the driver from support website of PC or motherboard maker.
