Both ATI and Nvidia are good but ATI is slight ahead for now with its DX11 HD 5XXX series. The new ATI cards w/ large memory are also good for multi-monitor Eyefinity set ups.

Top ATI card is the monster HD 5970 (30cm or a foot long}:

Top Nvidia card at the moment is the GTX 295:

As for current cards I couldn't really tell you, I haven't kept up with the latest ones.

I've used both ATI and Nvidia cards, I've found both are good, reliable and would be hard pressed to choose between the two, for instance, ATI graphics are in some of the top gaming consoles on the market right now, the nintendo Wii and Gamecube, as well as the Xbox 360 use ATI Graphics. The Playstation 3 uses Nvidia graphics.

I usually choose Nvida over ATI due to usually a more affordable price and support, but really between the two you would probably be happy no matter which you choose.

I choose Nvidia because of the fact from my experience, they have some distance much less driving force situation. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, that's count number of opinion extremely, as i be attentive to folk who use ATI enjoying cards (stated as AMD now) and that they've not got any matters. cutting-edge superb Nvidia: GTX 295 cutting-edge superb ATI (AMD): HD 5970
