I have two HDD's:
80GB IDE
1TB SATA

My IDE drive has XP installed. Other than cloning, can I make some backup CD's of my IDE drive then somehow install them on my SATA drive?

Thanks.

Just clone the drive.

Most, if not all, hard drive mfg offer a free setup program that will setup the new drive and clone the old drive to it.

If that is not the option for you then gather your drivers, app, game, docs, picts, music and reinstall the whole thing from scratch. The backup fiasco you are considering will only lead to pain.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't use cloning. You're going to need some type of software anyway, and most good cloning programs offer the ability to make "recovery CD's." The program I use and like is Acronis, and it's available for free if you have a Western Digital drive. You could also use Norton Ghost.

Hi there,

Probably the easiest way is to use Easus's Disk copy ot Todo Backup utilies.

There is a link below on the Easus website both apps are free for home use.

Hope this helps,
