I have a bfg 9800 gt and when i install it in the M3N78-VM motherboard and then turn the computer on the monitor wont display anything but a black screen. The computer continues to run the normal startup into windows but there is no image. What do i need to change in order to get the video card to display a image???

disable your onboard video card through your bios screen. right now if you were to plug your monitor into the plugin on your mother board you would have video that is why. It should be on your advanced setup screen or periphels page I could be wrong but good place to check first and go from there. Plug your monitor into the onboard video jack and find in your bios Onboard Video should show enable; just disable it save and shut down then replug your monitor into your 9800gt card.

Boot without the new card - using the normal onboard video.

Go to bios and disable onboard video.

Save changes and exit.

Turn the pc off and install the new card

Windows will use a Standard VGA driver when it boots

Then you can install the new video driver.

You have a conflict. Your motherboard has an onboard video chiset. These don't like to work with video cards that are bought and added on there. You should be able to fix it by disabling the onboard video in your BIOS.

I believe the 9800 GT has a fan on it...Does your fan power turn on?
