Ive heard many people over in europe such as country of spain that the majority of people who use windows desktop use (windows XP) still in 2012.

So im just wondeirng why windows xp seems so popular over in spain i mean Im just wondeirng why not use newer windows to make you no one ends up virus and hack issues.

I told someone who use it and told me that its quite common at internet cafes and office and homes.. windows xp

For me windows xp is quite 2004 thing.

How can windows xp keep you update of virus and hack free ? Why ain't they using the new common sense of windows 7 for example ?

Is this quite common all over europe and not just spain ?

In australia windows xp is old stuff. We use current windows between windows 7 and 8. But who would be using windows xp knowdays ?
Not sure how spain business offices use windows xp yet in 2012. Almost 2013 now/

Spain is poorer, so they are more likely to use older systems like Pentium 4's. There are some advantages to using more current versions of Windows, but (with a few exceptions) most essential software still works just fien on it.

Vista was far LESS secure than XP, it was junk and very insecure and unstable. So many people being sensible kept XP. When 7 was released it could not be upgraded from XP, so people either needed to buy Vista to upgrade first, then 7 to upgrade again. Very expensive in Europe. And by the time 7 was stable and reliable Microsoft had stopped all their agents from selling Vista. In any case 7 is no less likely to get infected or hacked than XP was. And XP has a lot of advantages when used against domain servers, change to 7 and you need to upgrade the server, often costing tens of thousands with all the services and licences required..

I'm in the USA. I don't know about Europe or even the USA, but I'm still using Windows XP. It suits my purposes, and I see no reason to buy another upgrade for, what, $100 -$200 or more? I'm one of those people who believes that, if it ain't broken, don't fix it (or tinker with it). I'd like to know how so many people can afford to get every new hi-tech gadget; the iphone, android, ipad, etc. you have isn't good enough? What the heck is improved with the new version? For me, cost isn't the issue. I could afford to upgrade my cell phone and my computer platform, but why spend the money if my present system does the job?
