CPU

RAM

HDD

But that also depends if your PC isn't maxed out already or even supports upgrades.

What model PC you have (assuming its a Dell, HP...)

And its PC's specs?

How do you want to speed up your computer?

Well, if you want to shell out some money to make it run faster you would probably need to upgrade your comp by getting some more RAM, maybe a new video card, or a external hard drive.

A Recommended External Hard Drive would be a Western Digital My Book. All you need is to plug it into your wall and the plug the USB into your Computer.

Stuff might need to be moved to another drive or deleted

--------------------------------------...

But to make it run faster for free:

Do a disk defragment this compresses your files and data, to access it click Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter

--------------------------------------...

Also Do A Disk Clean Up

This cleans out old temporary files

To Access it Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Clean Up

Now in disk clean up there is a list of objects that need to be checked off in order to be cleaned. So here is a list of files that can be deleted safely:

Put a check mark beside:

Temporary Internet Files

Offline Webpages

Microsoft Office Temporary Files

Microsoft Error Reporting Files

Temporary Files

Compress Old Files

Now just put a check mark on those files and your set and hit Yes for everything and don't touch anything else.

--------------------------------------...

Not Required but if you want to, or are a gamer good to know how to disable your Processes.

Close your Background Processes if you want to by going Ctrl+Alt+Delete then click Processes.

Note: ONLY End Processes with your User Name(the person who own the comp) on it.

For Example.

UserName:

Jess J

It has your User Name in it so end it.

Do Not Processes Named :

Taskmger.exe

Explorer.exe

And Do Not End User Name Processes:

SYSTEM

NETWORK

LOCAL

If you do end a process that doesn't have your user name on it just restart the comp everything will be ok.

--------------------------------------...

It could also be you need updates for IE, so go to Windows Update, for RAM updates, go to http://crucial.com, most others would also recommend this as well, as a good RAM Provider. Last but not least it could be your computer has Spyware or Adware or a Virus so get a free Virus Scanner like AVG, Kapersky, NOD 32. Spyware: Ad-Aware 2007.

Have A Nice Day

For normal use (Internet, e-mail) get a faster processor. If you want it for gaming, upgrade the proceddor, graphics card, RAM, and hard drive.

Hi,

If you want to make your PC run faster then please follow the step that I am giving.

Click on Start to begin start menu items,

Then Click on "Run"

Write down regedit in the box above,

Then click on OK

Now You are in the registry Editor So do the following structure

Open "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" by clicking on +

Then Open "Control Panel" by clicking on +

Then do not open Desktop just Select only as you can see in the pic below,

Then right click in the blank area as you can see in the pic below,

Then drag your mouse on "NEW" & from the Side menu click on "String Value"

Then Write down "MenuShowDelay" but make sure that you are doing the

same as shown in the pic below, I mean which is capital write that capital and which is small

write that small

Then press enter twice, and one dialog box will be appear so in the Value box write Zero "0"

and then press Ok,

Now you can close your system registry ,

Make logoff or restart your pc and see the start side menu is opening fast or not.

==============

If you want to make your system fast in the opening programs

so here you make an other value, but the value name should be the same is this "OpenDelay"

and here also use value, Zero "0"

then restart and see that how many speed using your pc to open menus and programs.

Now i want to tell whatever others have written is incomplete or wrong.

Here is all ways to fasten ur PC ::

1. You should be having at least 512 MB or 1 GB RAM if u plahy games which req. big space and graphics.

2. Do not use antiv-virus like NOrton, McAfee etc. They dont do anything except slowing the PC by constantly runnin virus scan whenever u put any CD or DVD, download any file etc. THE BEST ANTIVRUS IS AVG- Its free, fast and effective.

3. STRICTLY DO NOT DEFRAG YOUR PC EVER. It will displace ur files and there will be slow speed. You should do error scan every month(Right click on drive icon, properties and check scan). It is the best way to remove errors.

4. If u do not shut down PC safely, then do not cancel the system scan at startup. It is very necessary to do it.

5. Remove unwanted items from startup. Click on start, then run. Type msconfig. A window will open and then click on startup. Uncheck all unnecessary softwares running on startup.

6. Clean ur cabinet from inside every month once.

7. Do definitely a Disk cleanup every week once. (start---programs---accessorie... tools--disk cleanup).

Doing these things, it is guaranteed that ur PC will run fatser.

use this method definitely u will see a good improvement in ur internet speed.

Increse Bandwidth By 20% (XP Users)

Well if you are tired of the lessened speed of your internet then here is the better approach to increse the bandwidth.Actually the Xp reserves the bandwidth for Quality of Service(QOS) which works for downloading of the xp updates in parallel with the motion of the normal course internet. If we try to mangae the Qos then we can augment user bandwidth by 20%.

Just Follow the above process :-

Click Start–>Run–>type “gpedit.msc”.

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy–>Computer

Configuration–>Administrative Templates–>Network–>QOS

Packet Scheduler–>Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the ‘Explain’ tab :

“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.”

Click start go to "Run" then type cmd then press ok..

Then a window will pop pup..type net user then enter. Now You'll the accounts on you computer..Now type "net user(space)(name of the account)(space)then asterisk then press enter..For Example

net user joe *

Now u can change the password

Here are the steps involved to De Hack or restore the Window XP Administrator Password to cover your tracks.

Go to Start –> Run –> Type in CMD

You will get a command prompt. Enter these commands the way it is given

cd\

cd\ windows\system32\temphack

copy logon.scr C:\windows\system32\logon.scr

copy cmd.exe C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

exit

Or simply go to C:\windows\system32\temphack and copy the contents of temphack back into system32 directory click Yes to overwrite the modified files.

or

1. Run Disk clean-up. Then delete unused files. (start>program>accessories>sys... tools> disk clean-up)

2. Check for disk errors. (right click on a disk-drive>properties>tools >error checking, then restart)

3. Run disk defragmenter for all drives.

4. Delete cookies. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)

5. Delete cache or temporary files. (you can do it from your browser options) or, click on 'start", 'run', type 'temp' then click ok. Whatever shows up, just delete.

6. Delete all history files. (you can do it from your browser options, or, CTRL + H, then delete)

7. Empty recycle bin.

8. Delete unused icons & short-cuts from anywhere including desktop.

9. Uninstall and delete any software or game that you use only once or twice in a week, or don't even use.

10. Delete temporary internet files. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)

11. Delete all recent files. (click on start, click run, then type "recent", delete all the files which show up)

12. Run a full virus scan. If any threat found, eliminate that completely.

13. Run a software which can remove any spyware or adware.

Like: Ad Aware, Windows defender etc.

14. Click Start > Run and type "msconfig" at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable Windows system components.

If you did these all at the same time, restart your computer. All these to be done once in a week if possible, depending on the frequency of use of your PC.

* Updating: (Needed only when updates are available)

15. Update your Windows by installing latest updates.

16. Update your audio & video drivers.

17. Update softwares, browsers, games that you use.

In Internet Explorer click on Tools then Internet Options and look for the section Browsing History and click the Delete button underneath. Next Click the Delete Files button next to Temporary Internet Files.

The System Restore facility is a useful safety feature but it can also use up a lot of space, so occasionally it is worth clearing out the old restore points.

To do this, go to Control Panel, click on System then on the System Restore tab. Tick to turn off System Restore and click Apply, this will clear out all old restore points. Now un-tick to turn System Restore back on and use the slider to specify the amount of disk space you want it to use for future restore points.
