WTF? Did she just buy you everything? There is no way you need a Fibre Channel card for your machine, and that's $1000 right there.

The computer itself is incredible- those are server-grade processors. You can set up the 4 hard drives in a RAID configuration because of the card which means you can pretend you have a single 1TB hard drive that's 4 times as fast. 32GB of RAM is way more than you're going to need even for video editing.

She really didn't need to get you both iWork and Microsoft Office- they both do the same thing. MS Office is actually better, but they both work. You probably won't need FileMaker but you're going to really appreciate having Aperture and Final Cut.

Was that $23,000 or $2,300?

Anyway I hate Steve Jobs, but that computer sounds like a beast.

I'd suggest setting up a RAID 1 before you start using it. Keep that data safe!

On a Mac, shift/manipulate/three takes a photograph of the reveal. If you press shift/manipulate/four, you'll be able to click on and drag over the subject you wish; the photograph is taken while you liberate the mouse button.
