Well personally, i use photoshop and GIMP so were kinda on the same level... What i say you should do is go to dell, and look at the home computers. i'd get an inspiron or a studio XPS. get a desktop so that you can upgrade it later on if need be. then i'd get at least 3gb of ram, and a 512mb graphics card or better. i'd also get at least a 2.8GHz processor to ensure speed.

i will say greater advantageous than basically telling you to purchase a sparkling one. lots greater. as an occasion... I comprehend you are going to be "new" even after 6 years of having the pc, to the assumption of what pc hardware could be significant to particular applications. that would not recommend you may no longer say WHY you want the pc to be swifter. And... in case you want to play greater recent video games, what could those video games be, precisely? Why are questions like those significant? as a results of fact in line with what you want to do, an improve of the quantity of reminiscence could be all you want. If all you do is discover the pc to jot down letters, surf the internet, and play the video games you sometimes performed, an improve of Ram could do the trick. i'm via no skill saying that an improve interior the quantity of Ram you have could sparkling up each and every situation which you have. the only situation that I *comprehend* of which you have, is which you extremely want something it extremely is "swifter". nicely, "swifter" skill a team of extremely some issues. So, in this particular occasion, upgrading the quantity of Ram you have could be greater much low-priced than procuring a sparkling pc. of course, once you're this style of individual who seems at a nicely concept out and particular answer, and your innovations turns to mush because's longer than 2 sentences, I in all probability can't help you. once you're feeling such as you want and want a sparkling pc, then it is not proper what's greater much low-priced. no longer something in need of a sparkling pc is going to fulfill you.

Just get a new one, if you upgraded, you would be looking at new Motherboard, CPU, RAM, GPU, PSU etc... it would be better to just get a cheap ($400) PC that is new. It will be cheaper than an upgrade and will give you better performance. Also less hassle

It's always going to be cheaper to upgrade your current computer. The best thing you can do is to add more RAM and upgrade your video card.
