It doesn't load up, it just comes on (when I switch it on) and then goes off about ten seconds later, what could be causing this? I have tried a new power lead but it still does the same. The strange thing is that it was working perfectly about 2-3 hours ago :/

PC make and model

Make: Medion
Model: PC MT 7
Type: MED MT 490G

Please help. Thanks :)

If it is doing that, then I will lay a safe bet that the Thermal Paste has gone

bad on you and wants replacing or the CPU fan has packed up.

That is the paste between the CPU and the heat sink.

What's happening is when it's booting the CPU temperature is going

critical within a few seconds.

The CPU is then shutting it's self down to protect it's self.

Try holding down F8 as it starts to boot enter the boot menu,

wait a few minutes, if it reboots you have a hardware problem.

If it stays on its probably Windows corrupted. try entering safe mode if possible and schedule a disk check and repair (right click on drive c and select tools), it will do it on next reboot, or...

Boot from windows CD and run repair, in Windows 7 just follow the prompts'

In XP repair panel, you will need to type in the Dos command CHKDISK -R -P (if i've got it wrong type CHKDISK ? for the help menu)

Control Panel > Power Saving

Check all settings to be sure none are set to 'Sleep' or 'Shut Down' too soon.
