Question:
Ubuntu Question: Mounting a hibernated Windows partition

OK, the very last time I used my Windows 2000, I hibernated it. Well, I did something to make it not boot, so I got a copy of Ubuntu Desktop Edition so that I could open my hard drive and get my personal files. Well, whenever I try to open the hard drive from Ubuntu, it says : "Cannot mount volume. Details: Windows is hibernated, refused to mount. Failed to mount 'dev/sda1' Operation not permitted. The NTFS partition is hibernated. ...or mount the volume read-write with the remove_hiberfile mount option. For example type on the command line mount -t ntfs-3g/dev/sda1/media/My Hard Drive -o remove_hiberfile
So I guess my question is how to delete the hibernated file so I can open my Windows hard disk. And remember: I cannot boot into Windows 2000

you wrote the answer; from root:

mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /media/harddrive -o remove_hiberfile ...

if it does what it seems by names, it should remove hiberfile... and mount the device (maybe you want to add the rw option, so remove_hiberfile,rw )...

try it and let me know...

you position on your homestead windows first. If Arch Linux has an set up for side with the help of side it seems after each and every thing for you because it is going to cut up the puzzling force in 0.5. i'm no longer attentive to Arch Linux.
