On the LGA1155 platform the I7-3770K is the highest available CPU you can get.Is it the best? well that really depends on what you as the user are doing with it? If you are mainly a gamer and a overclocker, then the ideal LGA1155 CPU is the i5-3570K, if you do not overclock but like to game, then the i5-3570 none "K" version is more ideal. The fact that very few games on the market to date really utilize hyper-threading to its full potential and that in some games hyper-threading can actually drop your FPS instead of raising it over the i5-3570K.
The i7-3770K is more appropriate if you are a gamer but are also a video editor/render,3D render or graphic designer, as hyper-threading takes strong advantage of those applications. If you already have the i7-3770K then i would just stick with it.
Also if you plan on stepping up to Haswell just note, that Haswell over Ivy-Bridge is only a 10% increase performance boost. In real world performance, you as the user can not tell the deference between the two. My personal opinion would be to keep the i7-3770K and get or make sure you have a good dedicated GPU, as a good dedicated GPU will help you more in PC gaming then the CPU will as PC games today are more GPU intensive then they are CPU intensive and wait tell Skylake comes to the market in late of 2015 to the beginning of 2016. The only way I would jump on Haswell is if you are really into having the latest and greatest that comes out, even if the performance is very minimal or you just like the looks of the choices of motherboard you can chose from.
Hope this helped you,

Then you have the best. The i7 3770k is #1 CPU for socket LGA 1155.
It is still an outstanding CPU. Very fast and it overclocks nicely- and is great for gaming.
Just keep in mind that your graphics card is more important (in PC gaming) than the CPU. You need a good card like a GTX 760 or higher.

Agree you have the best unless step down to a i5-3570k a very good quad core processor for gaming or step up to the haswell processor
