I'm not smart with computers so I need help choosing. This is between HP and Dell. I read somewhere that more people have Dell. Right now I'm on HP.

DELL:
-Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q9300 (6MB Cache,2.50GHz,1333FSB)
-Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1
-4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs
-750GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
-Dual Drives: Blu-ray Disc (BD) Burner (Writes to DVD/CD/BD) and DVD+/-RW
-24 inch E248WFP Entry Widescreen Digital Flat Panel Monitor
-ATI Radeon HD3870 512MB GDDR4
-Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeGamer (D) Sound Card
-No speakers (I have great speakers already)
-ATI Theater 650 PRO Combo Analog/Digital TV Tuner with Remote Control
-Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (ships separately)
-Logitech MX Revolution Laser Cordless Mouse (ships separately)
-Dell 19 in 1 Media Reader with Bluetooth
-Dell Media Card Reader included in Dell Bluetooth Package

That ALL goes for about $2,384

This is the HP computer

I'm a gamer and it seems like Dell's graphics card IS better but the components make it more expensive but not by a lot. So which is better?

* • Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q9300 (2.5GHz)

same

* • 6GB DDR2-800MHz dual channel SDRAM (2x2048,2x1024)

64 bit os so will utilise the 6gig ram

* • 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT, 2 DVI, HDMI adapter

better video card

nah the 9800 gt will beat the 3870. the 3870 is slower than an 8800gt.

But you are paying a hell of a lot for a machine thats not really designed for gaming. You could build, or have a machine built with literally twice the gaming power of this thing for just over half the price.

The downside with this sort of setup is that it will date quickly. You get a name-brand but you pay for that and the consequence is a lot less gaming processing power.

You could build, or have built, a dual-gpu quad core which would max out crysis for about $1500.

I'd go with the HP. Both are nice. I have the ATI TV tuner the Dell has and it rocks. but--the HP comes with 64bit Vista. If the Dell did it would say it did. 64bit is over 10% faster than 32bit and in the Crysis forums they also talk about how it plays better with 64bit Vista. I run 64bit Ultimate on my Vista gaming rig and it plays any game worth playing. Althou a lot of people whine about Vista you will have no problems with Vista and that rig. Also youll be able to run higher resolutions with a 1GB video card.

I think you should get the dell inspiron 1525 laptop because it has the best battery value and if you are a gamer, than you would probably disapointed if your computer turned out to be slow so if i were you, i would go for the dell inspiron 1525 laptop.

[If you want the easier way, get a logitech cordless mouse while your at it.]

The HP is better. As for the gaming, the 9800GT is better than the ATI card. I have that card in my laptop execpt it has 1Gb insted of 512MB. It runs games at a moderate level but the 9800GT is better.
