today, i started to download windows media center 11
it told me to restart my computer to make ti work
i did so and when it turned back on( i have windows xp on dell dimension 3000) i went to pick my name on the list and it froze

then, another time, i picked my name and when i went to put ym password in, it jsut didn't go through

i pressed letters and numbers but they just didn't appear on the screen
i turned it off and then on again and now it works

i'm just wondering if this was jsut some random thing or is something wrong with my computer?

Try starting your computer in safe mode. You should be able to do this by repeatedly pressing F8 while it boots up. Once you get it started, remove Widows Media Center 11 and try and restart your computer again.

If this solves your problem, DO NOT re-install Windows Media center 11.

If this does not solve your problem, then you will most likely have to start

the pc in safe mode again and use system restore or system recovery to fix the problem.

There may be a startup program of some sort that is running when you log in. It could very well be Windows Media Player finishing up it's installation. One thing you can try is when Windows Starts up and you select your profile, try waiting a few minutes or so to see if it logs in. Good luck :)

P.S. Sometimes pressing a bunch of keys while something is loading can slow it down even more.

Yea, it sounds intermittent. If it doesn't do this every time, then hopefully it was just a slow glitch or something. Let us know if it keeps happening or if you notice any other weird occurrences.
