If you are not worried about money then IBM is the best way to go. Sorry DELL, GateWay lovers.

Don't get me wrong, Dell is great but IBM is better.

Just an opinion from experience.

Revised:

The better question would be, wich computer offers the best software for a home base business. Most major computer brands will serve you well, but it may be the sofware that comes with the system that make the difference.

Things to ask your self and the dealer.

Would Windows XP or Windows XP professional be better for my needs.

What type of software Suites come with the Computer.

Are you geting Microsoft Office OR MS Works?

Office XP would be best. And would include Front Page if you wanted to create a business Web Site. Buying this suite alone could cost you up to $400 depending on what Version.

Are there alternatives to Microsoft Office?

Like-try The Lotus Suite: this may include:Lotus 123, Lotus notes ect.

Does the system include any Account managers programs like Quicken or MS Money?

Does the system include disconts on other services you may need for a business, like discounts on DSL and Cable internet services?

to me these types of question are better than what brand to buy.

You just might want to think about it this way. Allien Ware is a Gammers machine, but put the right software on it and it will make one heck of a business machine as well.

Dell and HP and good work type computers. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Both have good entry level pricing. Below are links to HP, Dell and an article on PCWorld.com on how to buy a PC. It is very informative.
