This is just terrible, couldn't be a worse day for this to happen.

I'm running a Win7/64-bit computer and whenever I turn it on Windows Explorer crashes. I have done /scf scannow and it says that I have corrupt files but it was unable to repair them, I don't have a windows 7 install disk either.

If I install windows 7 from a disk will I keep all of my files?

Somone please help me, this is just heartbreaking.

Run a System File Scan and Replace the System Files to their Original Versions

Insert the operating system installation disc

1. Click Start | Run.

2. Type SFC /ScanNow and press ENTER to load the SFC utility.

3. Follow the instructions that you see on your screen.

4. Reboot the machine after completion.

Take help of third-party software that lets you customize the Windows Explorer shell extensions. A good registry cleaner software is capable of finding out the malfunctioning shell extensions and automatically removing them from the list.

If your computer tells you that you have corrupt files does it tell you what the corrupt files are. If it does you may be able to do a search on a different computer with the same operating system find the files and save them to a disk or memory stick thumb drive etc. Then you can boot your computer in safe mode or dos or with a boot disk and take the files from the memory stick and put them where they should be on your computer replacing the corrupted files. If you reinstall windows you should be able to keep your files unless the install reformats your hard drive.
