I inherited a Dell Computer and want to know if its worth keeping and add software, hardwar to it for better performance, or buy a new one. (money is tight). I use it for email, research on interet, having some pictures (not a biggie). No games. It does not have a sound card, so cannot get any music, etc. At the moment it takes more seconds than I like to open to my Gmail. MOves around interenet pretty well, but does get sluggish. I have Optimonline for modem, a wireless router for roomate laptop, and here are the specs: (appreciate if you don't speak to tech-y to me). Thanks
Dell
Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3
Intel Celeron Prossesor
996 MHz / 512 MBN of Ram

It will work as a computer to access the internet, other then that it is completely worthless for anything.

yes, you can. b'coz if you try to sell it out or give it away it'll be a loss. and you might need old computer in future then you can use the same one. or else what you can do is you can use it for downloading if you have any heavy downloads.

but keep it.

I think it is worth keeping for now. If its slow speed is really annoying you then i suggest you get a new one.
