Yes, Windows XP will work fine on your computer. I did the same thing with my Pentium III setup. I used a Pentium III processor at 866MHz and 512MB of DDR RAM. You will have some issues when it comes to gaming though. But if all you want to do is browse the web and work on some Word or PowerPoint then your current computer will be able to handle it well.

The person that talked about getting windows 7 did not notice the 512 ram on your system. windows 7 needs a lot more than that. The 800 mhz processor is your biggest hurdle. I ran XP for a few years with just 256 meg ram. I upgraded to two gig ram and it is like a new machine.

Windows 7 would be a good idea seeing that your computer only has 30 GB in it's hard drive and Windows 7 doesn't take up that much space. I wouldn't go with Vista because it takes up a lot more space than 7. I really am not sure about XP. Also, I believe Microsoft doesn't sell XP anymore, but I'm not sure about that either, and I do know they don't provide support for it. You also may want to think about upgrading to more RAM. That'll really increase your speed when you upgrade operating systems. Hope I helped!

Sorry to tel you however getting XP for a fifteen GB tough force easily wont reduce it, cross out and purchase a 50 buck eighty GB tough force together with the running approach and you are going to be convinced. 320 MB ram will likely be adequate, in spite of what a few ppl say. You dint have to spend money on a brand new laptop, that one identity pleasant, so long as you don't seem to be over loading you laptop with films, worrying methods and many others do not fear approximately it simply get a larger tough force and you are going to be pleasant.

XP will run on that computer (Windows 7 will NOT), but you wont be happy with just an 800MHz processor, and your 30GB hard drive doesn't have much life left.
