Make sure you're grounded then remove the heatsink. Lift the little lever (ZIF) and pull it straight up. You may want to store it in a plastic bag or something. Do not use a magnetic screwdriver to remove any screws, if necessary.

I have an Athlon processor, and there is no option to remove the driver from within the Add/Remove section of the Control Panel. Also, I'm afraid I don't understand the response below this one. Removing and/or upgrading a processor has nothing to do with your hard drive data other than installing replacement drivers.

Go to control panel, add or remove programs, and look for the amd athlon driver.

Actually its better if you save all your information stored on your hard drive and install the new processor and act like a new computer you can find help and instructions in www.zdnet.co or www.cnet.com that might help, also the instructions that come with the processor.

You want to remove processor from your board?

Simple just unplug the CPU unscrew it. Remove the heat sink and fan...if it is there and then remove the processor
