Which one? Trying to decide between a quad AMD 945 or the X3 450 Rana.
The 945 is 3Ghz the 450 is 3.2 Ghz. It's one less core but many peeps are saying that the 200 extra mhz is worth for gaming, since games today don't use 4 cores anyway. But the Phenom has 6mb lvl 3 cache, the tripple just has lvl1 and lvl 2 cache. Thoughts?

The Phenom II X4 945 is considerably faster than the Athlon II X3 450. Correct, one less core, and no L3 cache. Which makes it pretty slower. Not slow, just alot slower than the X4 945 -- which features 8MB of cache, where as the X3 450 only has a total of 2MB cache.

L3 cache is useless most of the time. And most modern games DO take advantage of a quad core. so its really up in the air, I'd say get whichever is cheaper.

get a fx 6350, its 5$ greater and that's kind of greater valuable then the undeniable fx 6300! yet do not touch phenom....except you over-clock then those are the superb much less costly processors available (nevertheless would not advise them nevertheless nonetheless)
