Which RAM should I get?

I'm looking into getting 8GB RAMs (never made RAM upgrades before) and there is a couple of choices I'm deciding between.

I heard Crucial brand RAM are just as good as Corsair RAM but Crucial RAM is good for gaming and with Corsair RAM there is somethings I need to watch for (like an aluminum casing for cooling or something like that?). With the names they put up on Amazon there is also a lot of info which confuses me and makes me think the piece of RAM might not fit/be compatible with my computer or something. For example some says DDR3, some amount of MHz, 240 PIN, and some says "for intel core i3, i5, etc." My is only a AMD Athlon II.

Heres the couple of choices I see online, which one is better? Or is there no "better" and they are all pretty much the same and will all be compatible with my system?

First off, i know how you feel when you are stuck with computer hardware, it sucks big time!

anyway; please download this-

http://www.cpuid.com/

Go to that site and download the program.

It will tell you information on the hardware inside of your PC. Go to the memory/main memory/RAM section and it will tell you what type of RAM you have.. it will be either of the following; DDR (A.K.A; DDR1), DDR2, or DDR3 RAM.

Once you have discovered which type of RAM you have, then any manufacturer of RAM will be good to buy from; it really doesn't mtter too much, whether it be corsair or some other company..

i have one 1GB DDR3 RAM stick that defaultly came with my computer, i also have a 2GB samsung one, and 4 GB of corsair/kingston.. i can't remember.. and they have all worked perfectly.

My samsung ones cost around 40 quid each.. whereas the corsair/kingston ones only cost about fourteen quid at the time, however; the RAM sticks are equally as good so it doesn't really matter.

By the way, it isn't your processor, etc that determines whether the RAM will be compatible or not, it is actually the motherboard :')

Well if you want you can get the same Type of RAM. By just opening your desktop, and taking out your RAM and giving it to a store who has RAM can give you the same but new type of RAM. Remember not to pay someone to take RAM in and out of your desktop, when you can do it for free and its sooo easy!

Hope that was atleast a little helpful!

There is the older DDR2 and the newer DDR3, you have to know the memory standard for your motherboard to determine which to use. Here is a list of gaming memory in both DDR2 and DDR3.
