Question:
My computer display just went out, and BIOS starts beeping.

It's the summer so I assumed the first two times it happened that it was because of overheating (30 degrees in the room). But now it recently happened in cool conditions (25- degrees).

To clarify, I was playing oblivion normally when the display suddenly goes off and a continuous BIOS beep starts - after that I can restart and play without any problems. People tell me the BIOS code means something wrong with the power supply or mainboard.

Can anyone help me out? It's been worrying me for a whole week now.

Try to enter in the BIOS, and raise your temperature settings, set it to the max possible for your system. Then there's one thing you should also know, that it's not good to have your power supply unstable. It means that if you have many things plugged in the same plug, and it's unfortunately a poor plug, it may cause your problems too...

If you are getting long beep it's a ram problem If you are getting long and 2 short beep it's a display card problem according to your question there is no beep it mean the problem is with the mother board. If you have doubt in your ram just check the ram with the another pc.

I answered a question just like this one not even a month ago... DAMN YOU YAHOO ANSWERS and your crappy efficiency. Anywhos, sounds to me like your video card is at fault. It may be over heating. MAke sure you clean off the dust off of it, as well as making sure that the fan on it (if any) is still spinning normally. Also, if you have the PC enclosed in a cabinet of some sort, try moving it to an open space. Hope that helps.

I would recommend you take your computer to a technician to have your video card checked. Continuous beep indivates problem with your motherboard, video memory or boot microprocessor.

figure out which bios you have (pheonix, ami, etc) and look up the beep codes.
