When i first boot up my PC cold or not something is using up all my processing power. I thought it was windows automatic updates but even with that disabled i still get it. Is there a program that i can use to see exactly whats going on? i watch the task manager and i don't see any unusual activities or anything using a abnormal amounts of memory other than my anti virus auto protect and live update for it. Whatever this is keeps my processor pegged at 100% for about the first 5-15 mins i have the PC booted up then after that everything is fine.
Any info would be much appreciated

Every time you install a program some of them automatically start even if you cannot see them

Download " The Ultimate Troubleshooter " and install it will give a list of all started systems with details of where they are and if safe to stop them and on another section what programs are automatically started and allow you to stop them

I have had computers with 30 programs automatically started

Do you have Norton anti virus. Norton has a start up Scan that most of the time is enabled and tends to due exactly the problem you are having. Just turn off the start up scan and all will by well

if you go into task manager and go to the 'processes' tab, you can see under 'CPU usage' exactly what is using how much % of your processor, and it is updated live (so there is no delay). If and when you find it, and you don't know the programs name (usually they use abbreviations, but sometimes its something completely random) then google the .exe and it should tell you.

Download and install

AnVir task manager (its in itself a heavy program so dont check it to run at startup)

You can see all your resources in it

in this program you will find a tab named startup objects see if any unwanted thing is there
