Question:
G5 Mac has dramatically slowed down.?

I have tried Onyx, applejack and the standard disk utility and nothing helps. I cleared the caches, fixed permissions and have tried everything I can think of. There used to be programs with Norton that would run and correct any and all issues with the Mac but I can't find anything like that. Heck, I can't even find any programs to test my system to tell me how slow it has gotten.

I'm at my wits end and don't bother trying to tell me to go to windoze because having a lobotomy would be a better option than windoze. Why sell your Porche to buy a 70's VW Bug.

The G5 is about 2 years old and is the 1.8 GHz with 512 ram and 80 gig HD with only 25 gig used. I checked the CPU usage and I'm not even close to maxing the ram or the cpu.

Try Diskwarrior. It'll cost you though.

Did you try to zap the P-Ram. I know it sounds like I am making that up. I'm not.

To do this, hold down the 2 keys to the left of your space bar (option + Open Apple) as well as the P and R keys all at the same time. Then turn the iMac on. You will hear your normal "bong" sound, just keep holding it until you hear the bong sound like 3 times.

Then let it start normal.

This is a safe and normal thing to do. If you dont believe me, check Apples website. Search pram reset.

Yeah, try resetting the PRAM and PMU (Power Management Unit). I believe to reset the PMU, you hold down Command+P+M+U on startup.
