I will be OC'ing (CPU to ~4.0GHz, don't know about other parts yet), therefore the CPU cooler.

I'm pretty sure that all the parts are hardware compatible, but what I'm really hoping for is some feedback on the quality of my choices, whether you'd advise some other product and why!
One main thing that I'm wondering about is my drive setup. I'm currently set on this one, but what would be your opinion on a SSD as OS or OS/Apps drive? What exactly would the benefits be other than OS boot time (I don't really reboot)?

I'll be using this tower for programming/gaming/personal servers.

Thanks a ton for any feedback I get, it's really appreciated!

Hello again lenovobuyer!

Just a simple answer to your Solid state drive (SSD) question would be that anytime you load a program, or anytime you need to load more information off the hard drive, the SSD can retrieve the information much faster. This is because the SSD does not have a spin up time (HDD's have to start spinning before they can read information), the random access times of SSD's are in the tenths of a millisecond while HDD's are around 5-10ms as the hard drive waits for the information to spin under the reading head. Also SSD can not become fragmented like an HDD due to there not being any spinning by the hard drive, so on an SSD the information can be ANYWHERE on the drive and it will still only take 0.1-0.5ish ms to find data.

Besides accessing data, the SSD's also have faster read/write times of about 280MB/s while HDD's can only read/write at about 125MB/s (as is the case for your WD velociRaptor listed). Thus if you wanted to install a program, load a large program into memory, write to the hard drive or perform any other file I/O operations it would take you TWICE as long on a HDD as it would on a SSD.

Due to the HDD's taking longer to look for information, the fragmentation of data slowing down the HDD and the HDD's taking twice as long to read or write to the drive, SSD's are highly recommended for all important programs (as well as the OS) on an 'elite computer'. As for your computer build you switched your CPU fan to a good choice. If you are really looking to go for a computer of epic proportions, you really need to be using the i7 processor with 6GB of ram and win 7 64 bit (or a linux distro if you wish)

Hope this was able to provide you with some good information on HDD vs SSD!

every computer build gives you a shiver up the spine...lol Hope you do well and take it slow. Also I'm partial to the new SS drives, no moving parts, less to break down.

Looks all good to me : ) That is a pretty sweet setup
