I have a new Dell XPS1 420 that flickers every couple minutes. I contacted Dell computer support who did some changes to my resolution, but it is not as clear and crisp as it used to be. Seems to me, there is some problem with their Intel chip or something and I now have poorer quality... has anyone else had this problem? I am not happy.

Have you checked Dells website for drivers and downloads? It's worth a shot. I would recommend getting only the ones that are 'recommended' or 'urgent'. Use the service tag for faster searching. It's on a little sticker on the case.

EDIT - I found out a little more about the flicker problem you have. Seems it has to do with the refresh rate of the monitor. Unless Dell already had you do this, open Personalization, select Display Settings, click Advanced Settings, in the next window select Monitor, in the middle of the screen, change the refresh rate to 75Hz. If you close that little window, you will return to Display Settings, here you can click on "How do I get the best display?" and a window will open that will help you with display settings. The above is for Vista, if you have XP, it's very similar. From Control Panel, select Display, in Display Properties select the Settings tab, click Advanced then Monitor and here you can adjust the refresh rate.

You also said your monitor wasn't as clear and crisp as it used to be. My monitors native resolution is 1440x900, but I have it set at 1280x800 only because the higher resolution makes reading difficult because the letters are so small and thin. It's a matter of personnal prefference, you should play around with the resolution and find a setting that suits you.

If I were you, I'd try to update the video driver for the video card, now I think you need to be more specific as to what is there in your system like RAM

I have Dell XPS 420, bought it for $400 a at retail store (Microcenter)someone returned it thinking was bad Pc

I bought, it had 1 GB at 667 MHz. WAS NOT WORKING GOOD. so I bought 4GB with 800MHZ at 4.4.4-12 cast lactency (www.neweegg.com) , later, I swap that cheap video that comes with (128 mb, 128 bit 2400)

series)Mine is Nvidia GeForce 9600 with 512 MB and 256 bit. I also had to geat a better Power Supply Antec 550.

You know I got a great Pc. Now I want to change the CPU for Q9650.

WHAT A COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any Help, can contact me.

Good Luck
