I installed a brand new Intel Core I7 4790k CPU onto my GA-Z97X-UD3H Motherboard and the computer does not boot it doesn't even reach the BIOS screen it just turns on for about 3-5 seconds and then shuts off for the same amount of time and it repeats but when I put my old CPU back in (Intel Core I7 4770) The computer boots just fine can someone tell me what could be causing the boot problem with the 4790k CPU? i know i’m installing it correctly and its not the power supply either.

Check your i7 under a magnifying glass to make sure you haven't bent, matted or broken and pins off.

Did you Earth yourself before changing over the CPU?

The 4790S is listed on the HW rev 1.0 spec sheet for the BK (Black Edition) top version of your MoBo.

No 4790K though they are essentially the same CPU, the top 10% or so to come off the factory floor.

Double-check your BIOS version with your old CPU. It should be supported, but try updating it just in case. If that doesn't work and the CPU is the only thing that's changed your CPU is DOA. Send it back and get another one.
