Means the system cannot start up. It has stopped because of this. Either a corrupt operating system (Windows) or a hardware failure, (EX. hard drive, RAM etc.) Time to see you neighborhood computer repair man.

That likely means that your operating system has become corrupted somehow. It's likely a Windows Registry problem. Depending on how you shut the computer off, may have made it worse. If you did a "hard" shutdown by using the power button, this could have corrupted the operating system worse. If you have your personal files backed up, you could insert the System Recovery disks you have for the operating system, into the DVD-ROM, and restart the computer and hope the system boots off of the recovery disks and re-installs the operating system. If you don't have a backup of your files that you can re-install, then take the computer to a repair shop and see if they can recover the operating system by finding what's wrong in the Windows Registry. Good luck!

It could be one of many possible causes.

1/ Mouse not connected

2/keyboard not connected

3/hard drive not detected

4/no or bad ram

5/floppy drive problem

These are just a few of the most common causes. Check them all. Also, during boot, but before the message, ensure that it's seeing your master drive or the one with your OS on it.

If you have the ability (by hitting del key) at boot, look in the bios for a setting that says "halt on all errors", either disable it or change it to some other setting. All bios's vary in this regard, I can't help further without knowing which you have. Try booting again. You likely would also be hearing a beep code as well. That will help diagnose your issue if you knew what bios you had.
