I want to learn about AMD processor families, what are the comparable families in Intel processors
Which of them has dual core and which has quadro core and even more. and does any of them has the hyper threading feature like Intel's processors-core i7 for example-meaning an overall comparison for the processors of each company and what is Intel processors good at and what AMD processors good at
If there any web site that will be useful please let me know
Thank you in advance

You can directly compare processors with anandtech's benchmarking utility: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2

http://www.cpubenchmark.net can be used to give you a rough idea of the processor performance landscape, but don't take those numbers at face value. Synthetic benchmarks (i.e not real world application usage) are a sub-par choice for comparison and those numbers aren't collected ideally.

As most people tend to be comparing processors within the same sort of price and performance range you can usually just type processor models in to a search engine and get benchmarks quite quickly, for example something like "1100t vs 2500k".

It may seem odd but go to newegg or something and read the reviews for desktop processors and stuff like that you'll learn alot trust me , it seems AMD's view of life is realism and they have the best Price to performance ratio on the market INTEL on the other hand seems to be enthusiasts who release the best preprocessor they can on a specific socket resulting in a premium price. It's not matter of is intel better than amd , now it's based on what you do a core 2 duo is still priced around 250$+ while amds latest 6 core 1100T is equivalent to an I7 950 or below is priced at 200$ plus tax amazing if you ask me, instead of going to wiki do yourself a favor and read the various reviews/ arguments on the sites where they sell the product. EDIT: AMD also makes video cards competitor being NVIDIA if your interested in that to take my advice and read the reviews and comments on the products, AMD focuses on saving energy while still having sufficient power NVIDIA on the other hand loves to consume energy while delivering that equivalent of power.

It's called quad-core, not quadro core... Quadro is a series of workstation video cards by nVidia.

Hyper-threading is Intel-only tech.

Intel processors tend to dominate in terms of performance. AMD offers good price to performance.

Intel is the best.MAC os is not supported in some amd processors.but intel can run almost all os.
