Hi,
I've never had a desktop computer before but am planning on buying one.
I'm not really a techno-geek and i only know the basics of computers.
Can anyone suggest some cheap options that has reasonable memory that can be used for documents, browsing and entertainment but also one that to play games on.

What are the best brands and models and how much do they cost?
What are the most important thing to look for in a computer?

In terms of gaming i'm not looking for the best thing out there, just something that can run a game like Civ 5 without too much difficulty.

Any advice or tips for buying would be very helpful!!
Thanks!!!!!!:)

Most of the computers sold on store shelves will play games. The only thing you have to make sure is that the video card meets the requirements of the game that your wanting to play. Alot of the store bought computers have junk for video cards and are normally build onto the motherboard so when purchasing one consider buying a better one to install.

first off building your own pc is always better than buying one pre built if you don't know how to newegg has a 3 part series telling you everything you need to know from buying the right parts to building it but if you son't feel comfortable building a pc yourself after watching the three videos a sight like http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ will let you pick the parts and they build it get it running and ship it to you for a little extra than what it costs to build it yourself also building a pc yourself is always cheaper than buying one i don't know your budget but for what you need it for a i5 3570k processor,8gbs of ram,a gtx 660ti make sure it's the ti version should do you fine this is a list of parts you might want to use http://pcpartpicker.com/p/AZ0I and if you have the money you can always upgrade to better parts instead of the ones i suggest and vice versa if you don't have that much money to spend on a pc

the three videos i was talking about
