It dosen't matter what function I'm doing, the audio just cuts out. There is a small electrical "pop" when this occurs. Any computer genius type people know why?

Is the audio run by an integrated chipset or an audio add-in card? What ever it is, it could be that the audio card is shot. If it ALWAYS comes back after a restart, you can rule out a wire short or bad speakers, as those problems would persist after a shutdown. It is possible that the drivers need to be udated, although in most cases with audio, bad drivers would cause the audio to cease from the get go.
Failing other quicker options, you may want to try putting in another audio card in a PCI slot (disable integrated audio in B.I.O.S if you have a integrated audio solution). Sound cards are pretty cheap, and are easier to get and install than the hassle of returning a PC or taking it in for repair.

Neither. They the two have integrated portraits Accelerators which makes use of the two the reminiscence and processor of your pc. From the specs of the computers, curiously such as you're heavily staring at appearing some photograph paintings and video clips. if it is the case, than purchase a Whitebox wherein you've got the capacity to put in a committed portraits card with its very own reminiscence & processor. Why is this substantial you ask ? If i'm ultimate including your intentions for this pc (photograph and video - even in spite of if it is homestead video clips) than each little bit of reminiscence and processor you enable the pc to could carry out the rendering would be effective. A shared reminiscence/cpu pc will merely take the capacity removed from the pc (and sluggish the approach and pc down). Whiteboxes might properly be equipped to be a media centre. even with the undeniable fact that, if push got here to shove and you particularly wanted considered one of those machines, decide for the HP because it has an ATI portraits accelerator that's plenty greater advantageous to the Intel one. wish this allows. once you're a house consumer, I essentially do not propose any pc with an integrated portraits accelerator, in spite of the kind. sturdy success !

thanks for calling me a genius and the only thing i could guess would be drivers failing, check to see if new drivers are available that may fix this glitch.
go to HP's website, go to the support/driver section, pick your model and operating system im guessing windows xp... select to download your sound drivers and install them. if it doesnt help it could be hardware failure. in which case you should take the computer back to where you bought it and ask them about the issue.
