I have had nothing but bad experiences with Acer desktops. I had an Acer desktop that from the beginning had a faulty Motherboard and then it completely died after a few months. Acer sent me a replacement motherboard and this board was also Faulty. I'm starting to think they have horrible desktop hardware. I have had Acer laptops and had no issues with them. Anybody else have problems like this with Acer desktops?

You probably just got unlucky, or maybe the motherboard wasn't bad (aka you misdiagnosed it). I have an eMachines computer (eMachines is an Acer company) and it's been great, especially considering how much I paid for it. No issues, I upgraded the processor in it and it's a great little computer.

So long story short, you got unlucky and I'm sorry to hear that but Acer makes quality products. Even so, they make mistakes too, as most companies do.

Any how, I'm assuming since both motherboards appeared "faulty", I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the mother board is fine and the power supply is bad.

ALL my computers in my family that aren't acers have problems (except the apple computers, they're very reliable - although not great for me as i like to do gaming) firstly, the laptop im typing this to you on now is a hp g6 and the cpu fan makes a horrible high pitched noise. the card reader is broken. its about half a year old and the card reader broke a month or 2 after i got it and cpu fan noise has been there all the time after hp 'apparently' fixed it with a BIOS update that did NOTHING. also the fan on it is very loud and does barely anything. my little brother has a dell desktop and after a few weeks it makes a very loud high pitched noise from the psu - so its giving crappy power to ALL components and destroying them basically. (although not a computer) my hp printer broke after about half a year (about 5 uses in that time). acer desktop, still working for 6 years. acer laptop - broke after 7 years (decent lifespan) acer desktop i have now, 1 year old, not had 1 problem with any of my acers. oh and i could say that i have a laptop that wasn't an acer that didn't have problems, a packard bell, but sadly, that's a company that's owned by acer. the packard bell is about 2 years old, no problems with it.

So I would have to disagree with you about acer computers having bad hardware. although i guess some things are just luck. hope i helped :).

also my acer motherboard has 2x sata 3, my lil bros dell (came out same time as acer) only has sata 2.

ok thats it, hope i helped :).

Desktop machines are made with generic parts.

Your motherboard problem may be just bad luck, or they may have shipped you a refurbished replacement board that was bad. Acers are about average for reliability, not the worst of the bunch by a long shot http://www.pcworld.com/article/244481/desktop_pc_reliability_and_satisfaction_dell_and_hp_home_pcs_get_poor_grades.html

The Gateway, Dell, HP and Cyberpower machine for home use were the worst (although the Dell for business was OK)

I've actually hear this about DELL more than Acer.
