Diagnosing computer problems???

My computer has been acting weird... if I open MSN and other web pages, it freezes. If I open up 3 images at once, it says 'not enough memory resources to handle this operation'

My system resources are 84% free, there is no clutter either. What's the deal??

Also, I flipped the switches to clear my CMOS and it didn't prompt me that it was cleared. What's the deal with that? The switch is still down (in the OFF position) and the computer is acting like it never happened.

And one other question, what's this lithium battery next to the switch box?

This is most likely due to Malware (computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, dishonest adware, and other malicious and unwanted software). You will need to run full anti-virus/spyware scan and clean your registry. I recommend you use these programs (they are free).

1) AVG Free anti-virus

2) Ad-aware spyware remover

3) Spybot - Search and Destroy spyware remover

4) CCleaner - registry and privacy cleaner

Oh my, well it sounds like you may have some bad ram, or just might need a larger swap file. Increase the size of your swap file in the control panel/system/advanced then the top box (I think it's performance) then you change the page file from windows handled to Custom. Your page file should be min 1.5x your amount of ram, and max 3x your amount of ram.

Um, you shouldn't be flipping your cmos battery switches while the computer is on. All that battery does is hold your bios settings. Typically you need to remove the battery to clear the memory, i doubt that switch has anything to do with the cmos battery.

Trust me, your cmos has nothing to do with the error you are experiencing.

You should turn the switch back on and run your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.

the battery near the CMOS is to retain your BIOS settings.

do you have enough memory... ?? sounds like you opened your box.. if so make sure you did not bump anything to make it off its place.. i would check your mother board jumper settings.. CMOS battery.. gives power to internal clock and BIOS
