A start signal is being sent to the power supply, that powers up the power supply when you plug in the computer. The same thing can happen if you install a PCI card, with the computer plugged up (a real no-no). Its unusual for the computer to power all the way up, usually they run for a few seconds then power down. The cause is, the chipset restting itself as the motherboard is energized, a signal is sent to the power supply, signaling it to come on (the green wire in the power supply harness).

Hope this helps.

In the BIOS, there is a setting for what to do about a power failure, Meaning if the electricity go out and comes back on. there is Remain Off, self explanatory. Last State, meaning if it was on come on, if it was off, stay oof. And Turn On, which it sonds like it is set at, unless you are pulling the plug while it is running, then it may be set to Last State.

After careful study, research and 'scratchin' mah brain, I have arrived at the following probably solution.

Busted on/off button.

PS: ALWAYS use 'I' where you used 'i'. when referring to yourself.
